NetApp has announced new capabilities and solutions to bring greater simplicity, security, and flexibility to enterprises for their hybrid multi-cloud environments.
These new capabilities include enhanced protection against ransomware, the hybrid cloud storage in a single subscription, unified management in a single user interface, and close collaboration with VMware to help move workloads to the cloud.
As enterprises acquire public cloud services to expand their existing on-premises data centers, these combined infrastructures become more disparate, inconsistent, and fragmented over time, NetApp said. These multicolored silos are inherently more complex to manage because of multiple disparate environments.
To counter this, NetApp delivers a unified and consistent hybrid multi-cloud experience, enabling customers to run and manage a single platform from on-premises to the world’s largest public clouds.

Hybrid cloud simplicity experience
By delivering everything ‘as a service’, NetApp aims to simplify and optimize hybrid cloud environments with new capabilities, including Hybrid cloud Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS) in one flexible subscription with Keystone.
Organizations can flexibly move workloads to and from the cloud in a single contract. In addition to managing and monitoring data storage, protection, governance, and tiering in multi-cloud environments, Cloud Manager can now manage Keystone services, track software licenses, monitor infrastructure health, and make proactive recommendations that optimize costs and data protection with automated actions.
Cyber resilience for hybrid cloud
The rise of ransomware in recent years is a growing problem for enterprises. IDC’s 2021 Ransomware Study: Where You Are Matters! Over a third of organizations worldwide have experienced a ransomware attack or breach that blocked access to systems or data in the previous 12 months.
With NetApp’s new built-in cyber resilience capabilities, including anti-ransomware, data protection, and security, organizations can reduce unauthorized user access and threats to data from ransomware attacks, the company said.
Customers can protect a wide range of workloads, enterprise apps, virtualized workloads, and modern containerized applications from security breaches, quickly detect attacks, and quickly recover data before experiencing any business impact.
Enabling business cloud transformation
NetApp helps customers “modernize to the cloud” using an additional data store for data-intensive, storage-intensive workloads running in one or more multi-cloud environments.
NetApp is currently the only cloud storage service provider certified and supported as an external supplemental data store for VMware Cloud environments running in the largest public clouds.
