Many office workers have moved to work from home or at least hybrid work. This, coupled with the recent rise in the cost of living, has led to a growing number of people leaving the city to live in the countryside.
In Asia-Pacific, that means that your power supply is not as reliable.
One of our team members was in this position when the power went out in their small country town.
Initially, this meant their internet connection went down, and they had to work via their cell phone, but eventually, even that ran out.
The solution we came up with is a portable power plant from EcoFlow. Many models are in the range; our one is a good size, weight, and battery life balance.
Although we had the idea of a remote worker, the unit could be used for camping, on a boat,
The device is about the size of a car battery, although a lot lighter at just under 8kg.
It has a handle on the top for easy transport. As you can imagine, this is useful for moving him around the house or even in a campaign situation.
It has two power outlets on one end to simultaneously power at least two devices. These normally deliver 600W, although the X-Boost function can temporarily increase this to 1,800W. This reduces the amount of time you get from a single charge.
In our tests, it worked for a refrigerator, kettle, drill, hairdryer, coffee maker, laptop, and microwave. We didn’t find anything that wouldn’t be in effect.
On the side, it has USB-C and three USB-A ports, which are useful for charging devices such as tablets, smartphones, headphones, etc.
An easy-to-follow screen on the side of the River Pro shows you how many hours and minutes you’ve charged when you let devices work with it.
The same screen also shows how much power is coming in and out of the device at any time—this way; you can determine which appliances consume the most energy.
The time you get depends greatly on the device you’re charging. A refrigerator can last up to 8 hours, while a laptop can last as much as 20 hours.
When it’s time to recharge, you can charge from a normal wall outlet, car cigarette lighter, or solar panel.
The wall outlet is the fastest to fully charge the River Pro in under 2 hours, while the car adapter takes 8 hours.
The model we got included a 160W solar panel; with this option, your charging speed depends on what the instructisaying says it will take between 6 and 12 hours.
The solar panel comprises four panels that can be neatly packed in a carrying case for easy transport.
Finally, the light on the side of the unit can be very useful and extremely bright.
This incredible power station; charges very quickly, is easy to use, is lighter than expected and is very flexible. It has many indoor and outdoor uses, and we highly recommend it.
