Ivanti and Lookout, an expert in endpoint-to-cloud security, announced that they have joined forces to help organizations accelerate cloud adoption and develop their zero-trust security posture in the “anywhere workplace.”

The two companies have integrated their best-in-class technologies, Ivanti Neurons for Zero Trust Access (ZTA), Lookout Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and Lookout Secure Web Gateway (SWG). This integration will help customers achieve complete threat prevention and data protection, both on-premises and in the cloud, inside and outside the network, while following the security principles of zero trust access.

According to the two companies, the pandemic has shifted where and how people work. Employees increasingly use personal and business devices to access company resources while working from anywhere.

Ivanti and Lookout Bring Zero Trust Security to Hybrid Work

According to Gartner, hybrid workplaces are here to stay: 96% of workers worldwide who currently work remotely at least some of the time want to continue to do so. In addition, Gartner predicts that 47% of knowledge workers will join the remote ranks by 2022, compared to 27% in 2019.

Ivanti’s 2022 Everywhere Workplace report also highlights this evolution of work, with nearly three-quarters of respondents (71%) saying they would rather work anywhere than get a promotion.

According to Ivanti and Lookout, companies face many security challenges when protecting corporate data and detecting and preventing threats in this new hybrid work landscape.

Organizations often lack visibility and control over who can access corporate resources hosted in managed and unmanaged cloud locations, making complete access and security management difficult.

At the same time, hackers exploit corporate IT infrastructure vulnerabilities and increasingly target mobile devices. For example, a recent report found that phishing attacks increased by 700% in the first six months of 2021 alone.

Ivanti president and chief product officer Nayaki Nayyar said, “We are excited to partner with Lookout to help organizations solve these challenges.

“This partnership allows us to extend the Ivanti Neurons for ZTA solution by adding CASB and SWG technologies through the Lookout Security Platform.

“Our three core technologies solve different but equally important security challenges. And when deployed together, they enable organizations to achieve secure cloud adoption, deliver a better end-user experience, and a comprehensive zero-trust security posture.”

According to a statement, the joint solution from Ivanti and Lookout is designed to:

Help organizations better protect their data regardless of access or hosting method. Prevent data breaches with adaptive and contextual data protection controls. Enforce compliance policies with granular controls that consider device owner, resource location, current device status, and data sensitivity Threats from inside and outside the network.

The solution leverages Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology with User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA), provides granular access security per application and device according to the Software Defined Perimeter architecture protocols, and provides CASB functions to protect against data loss and data theft in SaaS applications.

It continuously monitors the customer’s security posture and allows access to applications based on that attitude. In addition, the joint solution enables organizations to integrate cloud apps into a best-of-breed zero trust and secure service edge (SSE) ecosystem without replacing existing solutions, enabling smooth business continuity in a hybrid deployment.

Jim Dolce, CEO of Lookout, said: “We share Ivanti’s commitment to helping customers modernize IT, detect and mitigate threats, and provide a secure and productive environment for the hybrid workforce. We deliver secure access and advanced data protection for all users, devices, and applications.

“By joining forces with Ivanti, Ivanti customers now have a clear path to a zero-trust security strategy, supported by our innovative, data-centric cloud security solutions. Our solution is optimized to simplify security operations suitable for remote work and digital transformation to the cloud.”
