Microsoft launches app for modern sales experience

Microsoft has announced Microsoft Viva Sales, a new seller experience application.

Designed to enhance CRM systems with customer engagement data from Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, it uses AI to provide personalized recommendations and insights for salespeople to connect more with their customers.

This, in turn, helps sellers personalize their customer engagement to close deals faster.

According to Microsoft, employees demand more from their employers in today’s hybrid world, from their tools to their work hours and locations. This is especially true for sellers.

Viva Sales is focused on helping salespeople capture insights from Microsoft 365 and Teams, eliminate manual data entry, and receive AI-driven recommendations and reminders while staying in the flow of work.

Microsoft says that Viva Sales streamline the seller experience by bringing insights into context within tools that sellers already use, saving sellers time and giving the organization a complete view of the customer.

Microsoft Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Judson Althoff said, “The future of sales is not a new system. It brings the information salespeople to need at the right time, with the right context, into the tools they know, so their work experience can be streamlined.

“Empowering sellers to spend more time with their customers has been our goal, and we have done that by reshaping the sales experience with Viva Sales.”

56 Group Founder and CEO Paul Greenberg said: “Sellers rely on digital collaboration and productivity tools to connect with customers and close deals, but many of the insights they discover with these tools don’t appear. Rightly so.

“Microsoft is addressing this challenge by offering a solution that complements CRM. Viva Sales automate busy work, captures critical customer information, and helps salespeople do the job.”

A New Look at the Seller Experience Viva Sales builds on Microsoft Viva, launched last year.

Viva provides an integrated employee experience platform that brings together communication, knowledge, learning, goals, and insights to empower every person and team to be the best they can be everywhere.

Viva Sales delivers the first role-based Viva application designed specifically for salespeople; the company states:

Viva Sales provides sales reps with tools to do their job while providing the insights sales leadership needs. While salespeople are at work, they can tag customers in Outlook, Teams, or Office applications such as Excel. Viva Sales will automatically capture it as a customer record, layered with all relevant data about the customer. It was previously impossible to automatically capture this level of customer engagement data. This data can be easily shared with team members while collaborating in Office and Teams without retyping or looking up in a CRM. Powered by data and AI, Viva Sales recommends the next steps to move a customer through the sales funnel, prioritize work and next steps, and give sales reps access to full customer interaction history and materials. Real-time customer insights provide a deeper understanding of each customer’s purchase journey and how to steer the relationship. Viva Sales also offers AI-driven recommendations to empower sellers to improve customer engagement and optimize follow-up with best steps, actionable reminders, and suggestions to accelerate and close more sales. Viva Sales use Context IQ, announced last fall, to ensure that relevant content is connected to Microsoft apps and services such as Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365, helping salespeople save time and stay in the flow of work.

Althoff concludes, “With Viva Sales, we are creating a new category of applications focused on the sales experience. Microsoft is uniquely positioned to offer this application within the productivity and collaboration apps that employees already use.”
